Privacy Policy for Lukou Chinese

1. Overview

Lukou Chinese is a fully offline Chinese phrase assistant designed for international travelers visiting China. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

This app does NOT collect any of the following:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address, etc.)
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data (GPS, Wi-Fi, or IP-based)
• Usage analytics or crash reports
• Browsing history or search queries
• Contacts or calendar information
• Any data transmitted over the internet

3. Data We Store Locally

The only data stored on your device:

• User preferences — TTS speed/pitch settings (stored via Android DataStore, local only)
• Custom quick phrases — User-created phrase cards (local storage only)
• Favorite phrases — Marked favorites (local storage only)

None of the above data is ever transmitted to external servers.

4. Permissions We Request

• VIBRATE — For haptic feedback when tapping phrase cards
• Text-to-Speech (TTS) — Uses the device's built-in TTS engine to read Chinese phrases aloud (no internet required)

We do NOT request or use the INTERNET permission in the published version.

5. Third-Party Services

This app does not use any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or cloud backends. The only third-party component is TinyPinyin (com.github.promeg:tinypinyin), a local pinyin conversion library used entirely on-device for pinyin display.

6. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Any changes will be reflected in the updated privacy policy accessible within the app.

8. Google Play Data Safety

When completing the Data Safety form in Google Play Console, select:
